The Land Remembers: A Series in Five Poems

A powerful, poetic elegy of truth, witness, and ancestral memory The Land Remembers™ is a haunting, beautifully rendered micro‑anthology that transforms history into living testimony. Through five evocative poems—The Tree Remembers, The Soil Remembers, The Wind Remembers, The Man Speaks to the Land, and The Land Answers Him—Dr. Alicia B. Harvey‑Smith gives voice to the earth itself as it bears witness to racial terror, generational trauma, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.

Rooted in historical truth and shaped by lyrical mastery, this collection illuminates the legacy of lynching in America—its brutality, its silence, and its unresolved echoes in the present day. Drawing from archival accounts, cultural memory, and contemporary cases of contested deaths, Dr. Harvey‑Smith creates a poetic landscape where nature becomes narrator and remembrance becomes a sacred act.

In this anthology, the land is not passive. It remembers. It testifies. It refuses to forget.
